Antique Quilt Block Challenge from Humble Quilts

Here is a quilt I was able to finish last week at the quilt retreat!

The center block was an antique for the challenge I hosted.

When I was teaching in Idaho, Marsha B and I bartered! She made 2 very similar quilt tops and I ended up with this one! I really love it!  Read about it and see her similar quilt HERE

I had a lovely time away last week but boy we had some winter weather!

Thankfully we were cozy inside and busy sewing!

We have had a lot of treacherous freezing rain on top of that ...

Snow Day ~ Sew Day from Life in the Scrapatch

Look at these gorgeous fabrics!

These fabrics make my heart happy.

I first posted these fabrics way back in November Here.

These beautiful fabrics are

Wild Forgotten by Bonnie Christine for AGF

I bought these fabrics  Here @ Fat Quarter Shop.

Then they were laid aside for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season

and my sewing machine was covered.

Today my machine is uncovered and ready for my first sewing day in 2022.

It is a snow day here in my quilty corner of the northeast.
Mr Scrapatch made the wise decision to stay home from work and has been
spending the ...

A Quilting Snow Day from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

Mother Nature is keeping a tight grip on Winter in the Sierra Nevada range.  She doesn't want Spring to arrive just yet.  The best thing about snow, other than the fact that it fills our reservoirs, it makes the perfect day for quilting.

I made all of the first borders for Lovey Dovey.

Remember all of the little 1-1/2" squares that I had on my butterfly board?  Well now they are all stitched together.  Mr. Joe calls this a butterfly board since I'm attaching all of the squares to cardboard with a pin, and have ...

Snow Day Painting from Nikki, In Stitches

Large Silhouette Stencils With Registration Marks

I had some time to myself yesterday while the kids were outside sledding in the snow and felt inspired to do a little painting.

Actually, the truth is, I started this months ago for my youngest and was feeling more than a little guilty that it still wasn’t finished.

I made one for my oldest over the summer and they’re meant to be a set, since they share a room.

We’re a hockey family over here…can you tell?

There’s a video below for those of you that ask about ...

Christmas Memories from Appalachian Quilts

When we were little, Momma used to load us up and take us to Granny's in WV for the holidays.  The anticipation of seeing my cousins made me one of the most well-behaved kids you have ever seen.  Granny and my WV family lived in a 'hollow' (pronounced holl-er).  I come from a HUGE family.  So, when we got together it was absolute craziness.  My family is loud and we have never taken ourselves too seriously.  If you didn't have fun, it was your own fault.  I have so many special memories of the holidays.  I want my ...

I Like Thursday # 79 ~ Snow and Sew from Life in the Scrapatch

Snowing ... snowing ... snowing.

We had about a foot when I woke up this morning

and it will continue to snow until mid afternoon.

It is also very windy and cold.

It was an effort to even open out back door.

Nutmeg had to investigate then small patch of snow that got caught inside the door.

Kitty love to sit in the sun in this door and watch the birds and the critters.

No sun today and the backyard wildlife is sheltering in the evergreen trees and bushes.

I will be staying inside and sewing, with occasional forays into the snow ...

Snow Days Quilt Continued from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I put the foot pedal to the metal yesterday and finished off the borders on this quilt.

I have only one yard of the snowman fabric for the borders, so my borders are pretty narrow.  I had exactly 1" of fabric leftover.  That was cutting it a little close!  The finished size of this flannel quilt is 60" x 70".  It is going to keep me nice and toasty when I'm curled up by the fire this Winter.

This is the panel section cut up and put into the middle of my design.  The fabric is called ...

Snow Days Quilt from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I've been wearing my Henry Glass & Co. Madam Ambassador hat over the past few days. In between machine quilting Leaf Peepers, and pattern writing, I've been trying to spend time in my sewing room making blocks.

Little by little the pile of blocks started to grow.  The fabric is called "Snow Bird" by Barbara Tourtillotte for Henry Glass & Co.

I was wondering how to incorporate the panel into the blocks of my Heartfire pattern.

Mr. Joe came up with this idea.  I cut the panel out the exact same size as the rest of the unfinished ...
